About RAMHP

The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) has been around since 2007. Grand Pacific Health has been awarded the contract for the coordination and management of RAMHP, by the NSW Ministry of Health.

Grand Pacific Health is a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation – delivering services and supports in rural and regional communities for almost 30 years.

More than a decade since our formation, supporting our rural people and communities remains a priority for the RAMHP team.

RAMHP has a team of Coordinators living and working across rural and remote NSW who educate, encourage and connect people to mental health support.

Each year, one in five of us will experience a mental health problem. Yet if you live in the city you are twice as likely to access a psychologist than if you live in a rural area of NSW. People living in rural areas are more likely to seek help from people they trust such as their friends, family, local community and sporting groups. For this very reason, RAMHP also provides free education and training to equip these people with the skills and confidence to help link people to mental health support.

You Got This Mate is the brain-child of the RAMHP team. Rural men have been identified as a priority target group for RAMHP. The stats don’t lie – men in NSW are 3 times more likely to die by suicide than women.

You Got This Mate is a space for men to learn about mental ill-health and equip them to take control of their situation using practical tips and information.

What makes us different from other mental health programs?
We are local…

Our staff are locals; we live and work in rural and remote NSW. This means we know our communities and the available services, and we can relate to rural people.

We have expert knowledge…

We have extensive and detailed knowledge of mental health and support services across rural and remote NSW. This means we are well placed to advise organisations and individuals about the options available to meet their needs.

We are here for the long haul…

We have been operating since 2007, providing a consistent and trusted service for rural and remote communities.

We are backed by evidence…

Our program is evidenced-based, working closely with The Peregrine Centre, which is funded by the Ministry of Health to provide the Rural Mental Health Research Partnership.

We are adaptable and ready to respond…

We know that rural communities are diverse. Our flexibility means we can tailor our activities to the needs of organisations and communities across rural and remote NSW and respond quickly when adversity strikes.

We leave no one behind…

We are here for all people in rural and remote NSW, including vulnerable or under-served populations that other organisations may not reach.

Head to the dedicated RAMHP website for more information on who we are and what we do.
